Graphic Novel Club
With regret, we took the decision to finish Graphic Novel Club in April 2018.
What was the Graphic Novel Club?
The Proud Lion Graphic Novel Club was a fantastic way to pick up new graphic novels and try out different styles, writers, and stories. When members subscribed to the GNC, they received a different graphic novel every month, saving money off the normal RRP! Whilst they were a member of the club, they also got 10% off all graphic novels from Proud Lion!
How much did it cost?
Subscriptions were £5.99 per month, payable on the 28th, which covered the next month's graphic novel. Members received an email notification reminder each month before GoCardless collected this payment as a Direct Debit from their account.
What graphic novel did members receive?
The graphic novels available were selected by Proud Lion for each month. The selection included a wide range of genres and styles. They were always first volumes, so members were able to jump in and start reading from the beginning.
What if members already had a graphic novel you'd selected?
It wasn't a problem! We would announce the next selection in advance, so all members had to do was notify us that they already have that volume. We would then email said members a £5.99 Proud Lion gift card for that month instead.
How did they get their graphic novel?
The graphic novels were ready to collect on the second Tuesday of each calendar month, and we sent out an email notification from Proud Lion when they were ready to collect. Graphic novels could be collected from the Proud Lion comic store during normal opening hours.
What if they wanted to cancel?
No problem! Members could cancel their subscription for the next month up until the 25th of that month by cancelling their subscription with GoCardless, and also notifying their bank to cancel the Direct Debit.
Was there an age restriction?
Whilst we believe comic books are for everyone, we recommended that the Graphic Novel Club was suitable for readers over 16 years old.
We did consider launching a younger readers' version of the Club, but that sadly never came to pass.
What titles did you offer through the Graphic Novel Club?
